This study evaluates the impact of remuneration practices on the work engagementof adhoc staff employed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the2019 and 2023 General Elections in Nigeria. Recognizing the pivotal role these workers play in theelectoral process, from voter registration to vote counting, the research highlights howcompensation influences their work engagement. The study employs a descriptive case study designto analyze remuneration challenges, including lack of transparency and timely payment, and theireffects on work engagement. Results reveal a significant correlation between fair remunerationpractices and staff engagement, suggesting that improvements in these areas could enhanceelectoral outcomes and contribute to national development. Recommendations are offered forestablishing transparent payment mechanisms, fair compensation structures, and effectivecommunication channels to bolster staff engagement and ensure the credibility of Nigeria
